Maryland Spirit Company/Baltimore Sharks Staff
Scott Springer
MSC President
Head Coach: Great White (Open)
Head Coach: Tiger Sharks (Seniors)
Originally from a small coal-mining town in Southwestern Pennsylvania,
Scott Springer is new to the Baltimore area. Scott graduated from
Dover Area High School in York County, PA, where he played football and
threw discus and shotput for the track team. He was also a state silver medalist in judo,
and he credits his judo background for his later success in cheerleading
as a stunter.
Scott began cheerleading in 1990 when he attended Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY.
He cheered for the Syracuse Orange Cheerleading program for five seasons,
including one season as captain. He also cheered for the Syracuse Crunch, an
AHL hockey franchise. After leaving Upstate New York and returning to Pennsylvania, he coached
for a couple of high schools in Central PA before joining the staff at the Viper P.I.T. in
Etters, PA. After seven successful years as a member of the Viper staff
and as a member of their four-time National Champion Open squad Venom, Scott's
primary career brought him to the Baltimore area.
Along with coaching cheerleading and running the Sharks program with his fiance
Danielle Devlin, Scott is also heavily involved with other aspects of cheerleading.
Scott is the co-owner and Vice President of Coastalsoft Corporation, a software
company that writes software for the allstar cheerleading industry. He has also
served as a presenter at the National Cheer Conference in Fayetteville, NC and is
credited for having the first ever cheerleading website in 1995.
Danielle Devlin
Director of Class Programs
Head Coach: Bull Sharks (Juniors)
Danielle Devlin was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in central
New Jersey. She started competitive gymnastics at the age of 6 and
competed up through level 9. When Danielle got to high school they did
not have a gymnastics team and she really wanted to do something for her
school, so she found cheerleading.
Danielle cheered for 4 years of high school. She has been coaching
gymnastics off and on for 17 years now. When she went to college, she
had to put both sports on the back burner. After graduating college at
Salisbury University, she began working at Eastern Tech High School in
Baltimore County.
Danielle has been the varsity cheerleading coach at Eastern Tech for six
years. She also coached the junior varsity team for one year. However,
she missed cheerleading herself, so two years ago she found the
Viper All-Stars
in Etters, PA. Danielle competed for both the four-time national champion
Viper Allstars Open squad Venom and the multi-national championship
winning dance team Strike as well.
